Privacy policy

The short version

We collect what we need to quote, take payment for, and deliver a translation. We don’t sell personal data or use it for advertising. We don’t run analytics today. If that changes, we’ll update this page first.

What we collect

• Quote and contact forms: The name, email and company you give us, and what you write to us, including any links or details about the job.
• Cart and checkout: the packages, languages and quantities you choose. Your cart is kept in your browser’s local storage on your device. Payment details go straight to Stripe.
• Order records: what you ordered, the amount, and the name and email Stripe passes to us. We never store card numbers.
• Your brief and files: the links, notes and glossary you send, and the files at those links, which we download to do the work.

Who receives it

• Stripe, to process payments.
• Our email provider, to send and receive order and support email.
• Our web host, which stores this site and the order and file records.
• The linguists on your order, who see what that job needs.

How long we keep it

• Project files: deleted 90 days after delivery, or sooner if you ask.
• Order and payment records: 7 years.
• Quote and contact messages: 24 months.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell your data. We don’t use it for advertising. We don’t paste your files into public AI services.

Your requests

Email hello@ellatranslations.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, including your files before the 90 days are up. We may need to keep order records for the period above.

Files with personal data

Send only what we need. If your files include IDs, bank details, pay, Social Security numbers or other people’s information, black it out first where you can. We don’t take medical or health records and can’t sign a HIPAA agreement.

If something goes wrong

If personal data we hold is exposed, we’ll notify the people affected as Wisconsin law requires.

State privacy laws

Wisconsin doesn’t currently have a comprehensive consumer privacy law, so none applies to us. We don’t sell personal data. We review this once a year, along with the privacy laws of other states.

Children

This site isn’t for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
